Hilltop Community Association, Chairman John Richardson having slaved over a hot stove and a cool barrel required some help with the Raffle at the family BBQ.
A Hilltop sunset.
July 3rd.
These guys weren’t worried about Brexit. Wickhambreaux School Fete is all about fun.
Three cousins enjoying the bouncy slide. As their Granddad it was delight to see.
We awoke in Bergen to the news that we were out of the EU. There was much talk in the town that whatever we did we didn’t want the Norwegian deal, all the commitment with no say. That Friday morning in Bergen it all seemed straight forward, how thing change.
June 22nd
Flam to Bergen on the fast ferry, Vingtor, 5 amazing hours that just evaporated. On departure we passed the cruise ship MSC Splendida, showing a mystical reflection of herself. The views leaving the Flam valley were stunning with snow still on the hilltops in June. All very chocolate box.
Flam disappears into the distance and new horizons beckon. Sognefjord is the deepest, longest (over 200km) and provides sunrises around every corner. Pretty little villages & towns.
As you approach Bergen commercial shipping increases, tankers from the refinery, container feeder vessels etc. almost like being on the high seas.
June 21st
Flam is a small village at the end of the Aurlandsfjorden a spur off the Sognefjorden. On a daily basis the village is dwarfed by visiting cruise liners. The Emerald Princess looks impressive alongside the town quay.

Our Norweigian trip continued with a trip on the Flamsbana Railway, which runs between Myrdal (Oslo/Bergen line) & Flam. It is the steepest adhesion track in the world. The Kjosfossen Waterfall (free fall 93 metres – 305 feet) is spectacular and can be seen from the train. A truly wonderful trip, not to be missed, even in rain.
Oslo’s Royal Palace is lovely and modelled on Buckingham Palace but security is very different. You can walk up and touch the wall so to speak and the Guards patrol as they once did in London. A delight to see. A peaceful country but they still have National Service. Bonkers I say.
June 18th
The current Mrs Smith and a Fergie, what a combination. Location is the Norwegian Museum of Cultural History, Oslo. An excellent day out and a step back in time also a reminder of difficult times when under occupation. Take the Batservice, Bygdey Ferry from Radhus-Plassen for added bonus.

Spring is a busy time for gardeners and wildlife none more than a Robin with many mouths to feed.
May 1st.
The best way to start any month is to visit Mr Best at the Wormshill & Bredgar Railway.
Spring brings bluebells to add that splash of colour.
The venue is a little gem and perhaps a well kept secret. The team of volunteers keep the Locomotives & rolling stock immaculate. For the cost of entrance you can have as many rides as you like, visit the workshop and wonder at the model railway, plus many other exhibits and attractions.
